Montoliva Vineyard & Winery Comfort Food 2008

We've had our first few heavy rains of the season. The vines have drank deeply, and are preparing for their long winter's nap. Hmmm, sounds like a typical Saturday evening at the Henry household! Julianne and I love this time of year. Nothing to do in the vineyard, even if we wanted to. The harvest is pretty much done, with the smell of freshly filled barrels dominating the winery. Low music, exotic cheeses, delicious wine, softly discussing the day's events while the rain creates a gentle background ambiance. We feel a bit selfish for keeping this to ourselves, so Saturday, November 22nd, we have invited
Dedrick's Cheese of Nevada City to come out and pair up some tasty Italian cheeses with our recently released 2006s. If you were here for our '06
Sinistra release, you know how tasty it is with the imported
Tavoliere sheep's milk cheese. We will have all of our new releases available, including the almost sold out
Sei Ore, which will be perfect with your Thanksgiving dinner.

"Primo Vino" - First Wine. This is your opportunity to barrel sample the fruits of the 2007 and 2008 harvest side-by-side, and compare with the 2006 wine we recently released. How does Aglianico transform from a young, vibrant, bright fruit tart into a well-rounded, voluptuous, complex beauty? Wonder what our Cabernet Sauvignon tastes like before we blend it with Sangiovese? Come find out as you sample your way through 3 vintages in various stages of maturation. Our winemaker, Mark Henry, will be there to talk you through each barrel. This post-Thanksgiving event is sure to provide interesting insights into how wine is styled.
